Wellness and Cultural Travel in Latin America
My name is Pamela Pombo, and my journey has been shaped by a deep connection to multiple places and cultures. I was born in Uruguay in 1989, where I spent the first ten years of my life surrounded by its rich traditions and natural beauty. Even after moving to the United States, I have always considered Uruguay my original home—a place where my roots run deep, where culture and tradition bring meaning to my life, and where I feel a true sense of belonging. I later spent my teenage years and part of my adult life in New Jersey before eventually making my home in Jacksonville, Florida.
Living in such different environments—from Uruguay’s serene landscapes to the fast-paced Northeast and now Florida’s coastal warmth—has given me a profound appreciation for how our surroundings shape us. I have a deep love for nature, sunsets, and the ocean, and I take every opportunity to immerse myself in the outdoors. Whether it’s a quiet walk in the park, admiring Florida’s vibrant bird life, watching the sunlight dance on the St. Johns River, or forest bathing in the lush Florida woods, nature is always a source of peace and renewal for me.
This love for nature has also led me to embrace wellness practices that nourish both the body and soul. My journey into wellness has been healing in many ways. I feel more alive than ever, filled with dreams, ideas, and an endless appreciation for the beauty of life.
As a mother of two boys, I try to incorporate travel into our lives as much as possible. Whether it’s international adventures or local explorations, I want my children to experience the joy of discovering new places, cultures, and natural wonders, every trip is an opportunity for learning and growth.
My love for travel began with one unforgettable journey. When I was seven years old, my family and I embarked on our first international trip—three flights and an 18-hour train ride—to Norway in the heart of winter!
We were going to attend my uncle's wedding. It was the first time my cousin and I saw snow and so our days were spent sledding, building snowmen, and embracing the magic of a completely different world. But beyond the adventure, what impacted me most was the warmth and hospitality of my uncle's friends, and extended family. Their traditions, language, food, and music were so unfamiliar to me, yet their kindness made us feel completely at home. That experience taught me an invaluable lesson: human connection transcends language, appearance, and borders. It is shaped by the way we choose to experience the world and the people we meet along the way.
Three years later I had the chance to return to Norway and witness the midnight sun—another moment that reinforced my deep appreciation for the wonders of the world and the transformative power of travel. This time I was a proud, big sister, and you can see my little brother and I in the picture.
These experiences, along with my deep cultural ties to Uruguay, have fueled my passion for meaningful travel—journeys that go beyond sightseeing to create true connection, self-discovery, and transformation. I believe that everyone deserves to experience this. Our lives are meant to have purpose and meaning, not to be weighed down by everyday worries. Sometimes, stepping away and taking the time to reconnect with ourselves through a transformational journey is exactly what we need to return home with a renewed sense of direction and a deeper appreciation for life.
Because after all, we are full of life—and life is meant to be embraced, explored, and lived to its fullest.
